Getting Free Ringtones on your cell phone
Every day thousands of people search the web looking for new and exciting ringtones for there phone, there is a lot of sites out there that will charge you a few dollars for a tone, some subscribe you to a club and then send you expensive ring Tones once a week, well this guide will help you get round that, it will show you how you can get all the ringtones you ever wanted and put them on your phone for free.
Most modern phones will allow you to put either polyphonic or Mp3 Ringtones on your phone, in order to get your ringtone search on google for free ringtones , once you have selected a Free Ringtone then you have a few options on how to get that Ring Tone onto your phone
1. WAP
Whats WAP I hear you say, well WAP (wireless applications protocol) is basically the way your phone browses the Internet, just like you PC you can use your mobile device to surf the net . You do this in a very similar way to using a PC, the big advantage here is that when you download a file using your cell that file is saved straight to your phone, once on you phone you can simply use the file to act as a screen saver, background or a ringtone. Most (good) websites will guide you through the steps needed to download your ringtone to your phone. In general you will just enter the web address into your phone, select an option and the file will be downloaded
Warning :- Whilst these websites wont charge you for the ringtones you download via WAP be aware your mobile provider may charge you for the time your connect to the Internet
2. Bluetooth
Nearly all modern phones come equipped with bluetooth, Bluetooth is a wireless short range method of connecting 2 devices. Its used these days in cars, laptops mobiles etc etc and you can use it to transfer a ringtone to your phone. Visit your favorite 100% free ringtone website and download the mp3 or .mid file of your choice (Can i recommend http://www.freepolytones.org) onto your laptop. Enable bluetooth on both your laptop and your mobile and search for active devices, you make get asked for a pin, use any number you want but of course make sure you enter the same number on both devices. Once connected right click on the file to transfer and choose send to, choose bluetooth device select the phone and as if by magic the file will appear on your phone. Remember this isn’t limited to just ringtones you can transfer screen savers and backgrounds in the same way
3. Infrared
Some older phones may have built infrared, this again is a wireless way to transfer the files an requires line of sight between the two devices. Download the ring tone to your PC as you did in Step2, enable infrared on both devices and line up the ports, Windows will tell you it has found a nearby device and bring up the file transfer wizard. Select the file and click transfer, the phone may ask you to confirm this transfer and the file appears on the phone
Once you have the ring tone on your phone, use your phones settings to set this as a ringtone either for a specific caller or all callers
I hope this guide is helpful
